$16 million Army Stalker drone contract goes to company with north Alabama site
“Our Stalker is purpose built to meet multiple mission needs."
The U.S. Army is boosting its surveillance capabilities with a fresh $16 million contract awarded to Redwire Defense LLC, a company that maintains a key facility in Huntsville.
Boosting Army Surveillance
According to the Pentagon's contract announcement on Wednesday, the deal covers the delivery of eight Stalker Block 35 drones. These advanced units are designed to assist the military in spotting and monitoring targets.
The Army selected Redwire from a pool of ten companies that submitted proposals. The new hardware is expected to be delivered by August 30, 2026.
Building Momentum in Alabama
This contract follows a successful $15 million award last month to provide Stalker drones for training purposes at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Steve Adlich, president of Redwire Defense Tech, emphasized the strategic importance of the Stalker platform. "Our Stalker is purpose built to meet multiple mission needs, and will significantly bolster the U.S. Army’s ability to detect, identify, and track threats across a wide range of operational theaters," Adlich stated.
He added that the company remains committed to mission success, noting, "We want to make sure our customers are equipped to meet any mission challenge they might face through system flexibility and comprehensive, hands-on training focused on real-world mission scenarios."
