Incident Details
Police were called to the 2400 block of Snavely Avenue at 7:35 p.m. regarding reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered Davis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence. She was transported to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m., according to Officer De’Rell Freeman.
Preliminary investigations suggest that an altercation involving an undisclosed number of individuals led to the shooting. While two males were detained for questioning at Birmingham police headquarters, no formal charges have been announced at this time.
A Violent Weekend
This tragedy follows a violent week in Birmingham. The shooting occurred just 48 hours after a mass shooting in the city that resulted in two deaths and five injuries. Additionally, on Friday, two men engaged in a shootout at an extended stay motel, leaving one of the individuals dead. Police confirmed no charges will be filed in that incident.
Despite this recent surge in violence, police note that these events occur amid a period of falling homicide rates in the city. Davis' death marks the 21st homicide in Birmingham for 2026.
"Over the past few days, we’ve had homicides, we’ve seen things happen and we do want to emphasize that we are going to continue working to reduce crime," Freeman stated, "and do everything that we can to mitigate any issues in the city of Birmingham."
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Birmingham Police Department at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
