Alabama firms among 19 awarded $4 billion Air Force logistics deal
The companies will provide support at several Air Force bases through 2036.
Two Alabama companies have secured a significant win as part of a massive $4 billion Air Force logistics contract. According to a notice from the Department of Defense released Monday, the deal involves 19 vendors selected to provide essential support services through 2036.
Alabama Firms Tapped for Major Contract
Atmore-based Fortis Native Group LLC and Huntsville-based Tunista Logistics Solutions LLC are among the selected group. These firms will be instrumental in supporting the Air Education Training Command, which includes operations at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, as well as locations across Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Mississippi.
Scope of Work and Competitive Selection
The contract covers a wide array of operational needs, including:
- Airfield and emergency management
- Transportation and supply logistics
- Communications and IT
- Installation engineering and grounds maintenance
- Janitorial and publishing services
The selection process was competitive, with 205focus.com reporting that a total of 22 firms submitted bids for the project.
Industry Presence
The group of 19 awardees represents a broad geographical spread. Virginia leads the pack with six contractors, followed by Alaska with four. Alabama and Maryland each contributed two companies, while Oklahoma, Washington, Idaho, Florida, and Louisiana each have one firm represented in the deal.
