Alabama mother accused of child abuse allegedly put camera in teen’s room to watch him change clothes

A Hayden woman is facing serious felony charges after authorities say she physically abused her three children and engaged in criminal surveillance within her own home. 205focus.com reported that 33-year-old Chelsey Herndon was taken into custody Wednesday on allegations of mistreatment and voyeurism.
Serious Allegations in Blount County
Herndon currently faces three counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of aggravated criminal surveillance. Following her arrest, she was booked into the Blount County Jail but was released on a $105,000 bond just over four hours later.
According to charging documents, the abuse spanned numerous incidents involving her children, ages 14, 12, and 10. Investigators allege that Herndon frequently slapped the children on the back of their heads and struck them with both wooden and metal spatulas.
Surveillance Charges
Beyond the physical abuse charges, investigators allege that Herndon placed a Ring doorbell camera inside her 14-year-old son’s bedroom. The complaint indicates the camera was used for sexual gratification, with Herndon allegedly threatening the teen with punishment if he attempted to move the device, cover it while changing, or hide in a closet to avoid being filmed.
