Christian music star reveals emergency surgery: ‘I had a spectacular fall’
She took to social media to explain what happened.
Christian music star Natalie Grant is on the mend following an unexpected health scare. The 54-year-old singer recently took to social media to share the details of a severe fall that ultimately required emergency surgery.
A Freak Accident
Grant recounted the incident during a walk in Lakeland, Florida, where she tripped over a brick on the sidewalk. She landed on her left side, describing the impact as being similar to a “belly flop.” Initially, she feared she had cracked a rib, but the reality of the injury proved to be much more complex.
“I had a spectacular fall last weekend,” she explained in an update to her followers. According to Grant, one of her doctors noted that the nature of her injury was incredibly unusual, comparing the rarity of the internal damage to being struck by lightning.
Surgery and Recovery
After the fall, Grant attempted to travel to lead worship despite her doctor’s advice, but she was forced to stop when the pain became unbearable upon arriving at the airport. Upon seeking medical attention, doctors discovered that the fall had caused a kidney contusion, leading to internal bleeding and a subsequent blood clot in her bladder that required a surgical procedure.
“I’m here, and I’m recovering,” Grant shared in her Instagram video, expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans. “I praise God that it was not more serious. Honestly, just wanted to get on here so you can see my face, and know that I’m getting better slowly but surely.”
