Clothes sold nationwide at TJ Maxx, Madewell recalled for extreme burn hazards: Return ASAP
A sweater sold nationwide at TJ Maxx is being recalled for violating safety standards. The recall comes after one report of the sweater catching fire.
If you have recently updated your wardrobe, take a moment to check your closet. A major recall is currently underway as nearly 6,000 women's sweaters sold by Madewell and T.J. Maxx are being pulled from shelves due to a serious safety hazard.
Why are the sweaters being recalled?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has flagged these items for violating the mandatory federal standards for clothing textiles. According to the CPSC, the garments pose a dangerous risk of fire, and at least one report of a sweater catching fire has already been filed.
Which items are affected?
The recall affects two specific styles: the Madewell-branded Double V-Neck Pullover and the V-Neck Cardigan. These garments were sold in both light blue and cream in sizes ranging from XS to L. They feature a V-neck and long sleeves and were available with or without buttons.
To identify if your sweater is part of the recall, check the labels:
- The neck label displays the brand name "Madewell" and the size.
- The sewn-in side seam label features "Style #NT611" or "Style #NT612" alongside the code "HO24."
What to do next
Although no injuries have been reported to date, 205focus.com encourages you to stop wearing these sweaters immediately. You are entitled to a full refund or store credit by contacting Madewell.
To process your refund, the company requires you to destroy the garment by cutting it in half. Once destroyed, snap a photo of the ruined sweater and email it to 24-7@madewell.com, then dispose of the remains. These items were sold online between December 2024 and October 2025 at price points ranging from $138 to $148.
