Country music star flips piano during performance in frustration after technical difficulties
The video has gone viral.
Country music superstar Morgan Wallen found himself at the center of a viral moment this past Saturday in Denver. During a performance of his hit Sand In My Boots at Empower Field at Mile High, Wallen became visibly frustrated by technical difficulties and made the startling decision to flip his piano over onstage.
Technical Troubles
According to Rolling Stone, the trouble stemmed from an audio failure that left Wallen unable to hear the piano as he played. The artist ultimately finished the song acapella. A video of the incident, which shows Wallen walking back toward the instrument while the crowd reacts with gasps and cheers, has since circulated widely across social media.
A Star-Studded Tour
Despite the piano incident, the weekend got off to a high-profile start in Denver. Broncos legend John Elway joined Wallen in the tunnel to kick off the first night of the Still The Problem concerts. Wallen’s pre-show walkouts have become a signature element of his current tour, frequently featuring high-profile cameos from athletes and celebrities.
Previous tour stops have seen the country star accompanied by a variety of famous faces, including former Alabama coach Nick Saban, Peyton Manning, and Florida legends Tim Tebow and Steve Spurrier.
Recent History
The viral piano-flipping incident follows a difficult legal chapter for the singer. In April 2024, Wallen was arrested in Nashville for throwing a chair off the roof of a downtown bar. By December 2024, he was sentenced to seven days at a DUI education center, received two years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $350 fine along with associated court fees.
