Legendary musician shares rare health update, won’t perform at Rock Hall Induction

Legendary musician Phil Collins is opening up about his well-being, sharing a positive update on his health after years of struggles. In a recent conversation with the BBC, the 75-year-old icon behind the classic hit “In the Air Tonight” noted that while the last few years presented significant challenges, he is finally in a better place.

Navigating Health Hurdles

Reflecting on his recent history, Collins admitted that the period prior to the last 18 months was difficult. “Everything healthwise caught up with me at the same time and whatever could go wrong did go wrong,” he explained. A major point of contention was his knee; he persisted through tours and performances despite the pain, eventually requiring a series of five surgeries due to recurring infections and complications that left him largely inactive for an extended period.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

As Collins prepares for his upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he addressed the possibility of hitting the stage for the ceremony. Despite feeling healthier than he has in a long time, the singer told 205focus.com that a performance is unlikely.

“I can’t really see it happening,” Collins said. He emphasized that performing requires rigorous preparation, noting, “You can’t just go on stage. You have to rehearse. And then by that point, if you’ve not been singing, your voice is going to be shot and then that’s not going to be good. So I’d rather not do it.”

Looking Ahead

While he may be skipping the stage at the induction, Collins has not ruled out future creative endeavors. He expressed a desire to return to his home studio, where he has been documenting various musical and lyrical concepts. “I’ve got lots of lyrical ideas I write down,” he shared. “There are things that are half-formed, and a couple of things that are finished. So there’s things that I can get my teeth into to start working on.”
