Madison County deputy shoots armed suspect during domestic violence call
A Madison County deputy shot an armed man who authorities say was chasing and firing at a woman during a domestic violence call in Toney late Friday.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a critical deputy-involved shooting that unfolded late Friday night during a domestic violence call.
Incident in Toney
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Pulley Lane in Toney shortly before midnight. Upon their arrival, authorities encountered a chaotic and dangerous scene as a man armed with a handgun was observed chasing a woman and actively firing shots at her.
Swift Response
In an effort to stop the threat, a deputy discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. Responding deputies immediately administered first aid until emergency medical personnel could arrive. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Fortunately, the woman involved and all deputies on the scene were uninjured during the encounter. Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner praised his team's efforts, noting that domestic violence calls remain the most volatile and dangerous situations deputies face. The Sheriff added that the victim was saved from serious injury due to the quick actions of the responding officers.
Investigation Underway
Following standard operating procedures for such incidents, the State Bureau of Investigation has been notified and has taken over the investigation.
