Popular Birmingham restaurant closing dining room for the summer
The restaurant moved to 1911 3rd Ave. last year.
A staple of the Birmingham dining scene is pressing pause for the summer season. Carrigan’s Public House has officially closed its dining room, a change confirmed by a recorded message on the restaurant's phone line.
Summer Hiatus and Next Steps
According to an announcement on the official Carrigan’s website, the popular eatery plans to reopen its doors on Labor Day. While the dining room remains shuttered, the restaurant is still accepting inquiries regarding private events via its website.
A Downtown Landmark
Carrigan’s has been a fixture of downtown Birmingham since 2013. Originally established on Morris Avenue, the business relocated last year to 1913 3rd Avenue N. within The William. The historic venue, a redeveloped 1905 building, now houses both the restaurant and 27 residential apartments.
The building serves as a unique piece of city history, having functioned as a former furniture store. Its name pays tribute to the department store that once operated at the location, while also honoring owner David Carrigan’s father.
205focus.com reached out for further comment on the summer closure, but the restaurant was not immediately available to provide additional details.
