Madison County deputy shoots armed suspect during domestic violence call
A Madison County deputy shot an armed man who authorities say was chasing and firing at a woman during a domestic violence call in Toney late Friday.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a critical deputy-involved shooting that unfolded late Friday night during a domestic violence call.
Incident in Toney
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Pulley Lane in Toney shortly before midnight on Friday. Upon their arrival, authorities encountered a high-stakes scene where a man was actively chasing and firing a handgun at a woman.
Deputy Intervention
In an immediate response to the active threat, a deputy discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. First responders provided aid at the scene before the man was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition. Fortunately, the woman involved and all responding deputies avoided any physical injuries.
Investigation Underway
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation has been tapped to lead the inquiry into the incident, a standard procedure for officer-involved shootings. As the investigation progresses, the deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner addressed the volatility of the situation, noting, “Domestic violence calls are the most volatile and dangerous calls deputies respond to.” He credited the decisive actions of the officers on the scene, stating, “Thanks to the quick actions of our deputies, the victim of this call was saved from serious injuries.”
