Man charged with terrorism threats linked to controversy over a school student’s injury
A man is accused of making threats agains the school and some students and faculty
A northwest Alabama man is facing serious legal consequences following an indictment for making terrorist threats against Deshler High School in Tuscumbia. Robert Bowman of Killen was formally indicted by a Colbert County grand jury on May 20.
Alleged Threats and Disruption
Court documents indicate that Bowman is accused of threatening violence with a weapon and intentionally disrupting school activities at Deshler High. The investigation into Bowman began following his initial arrest on Nov. 7. According to police reports, Bowman posted threatening videos on Facebook Reels and TikTok, specifically targeting a vigil held at the campus for student August Borden.
Background on the Controversy
August Borden suffered life-threatening injuries during an on-campus incident in 2025. A Madison County criminal investigation into the matter concluded without filing any charges, a decision that drew intense scrutiny from the Borden family and members of the public on social media.
Bowman had been a vocal presence within the “Justice for August (Borden)” social media group. Authorities report that in the days following the vigil, Bowman drove to the Deshler football field, where he allegedly shouted at students and faculty. The behavior forced those on the field to retreat into the stadium and resulted in the cancellation of that day's practice due to safety concerns.
Upcoming Legal Proceedings
As 205focus.com continues to track this story, records show that Bowman’s arraignment is scheduled for June 26.
