Morgan Wallen joined by Gainesville royalty on walkout, but country star won’t do one thing
As usual, the country music star knows his audience.
Country superstar Morgan Wallen knows exactly how to work a crowd, and his recent stop at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville was no exception. During his sold-out Still The Problem tour stops this past Friday and Saturday, Wallen brought out some serious heavy hitters.
Gainesville Royalty Joins the Walkout
Wallen, who is a self-proclaimed Tennessee Volunteers fan, gave a nod to his surroundings by enlisting Florida Gators legends for his signature pre-show walkout. Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and national championship coach Steve Spurrier took turns escorting the star to the stage.
While Wallen was happy to sport Gators gear for the performance, he made his loyalties clear when the cameras were rolling. As seen in the viral event footage, the singer adamantly refused to join Tebow in the signature Gator Chomp. Even for a stadium tour, some lines are simply meant to stay drawn for a lifelong Vols fan.
A Growing Tradition
These star-studded walkouts have become a staple of Wallen’s stadium shows. Accompanied by his hit track "Broadway Girls," the routine features the singer walking to the stage with high-profile guests, a tradition that has spanned the country since the tour kicked off at U.S. Bank Stadium with appearances from Jared Allen and Joe Mauer.
The trend has seen plenty of highlights. Earlier this year, Wallen was joined by former Alabama coach Nick Saban at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Perhaps most memorably, he was previously joined by Peyton Manning at Neyland Stadium, where the legendary quarterback suited up in his full Volunteer football uniform for the first time since 1997.
