The wait is almost over for the massive $242 million Shoppes of District 31 project in Alabaster. After nearly two years of heavy construction on the 80-acre site, the city confirmed that the first wave of businesses will begin welcoming customers this summer.

New Retail and Dining Coming to Alabaster

City officials shared the exciting update on social media this past Tuesday, noting that signage is already appearing on-site. The first phase of the development, located just off U.S. 31, is set to deliver a mix of popular dining and retail options to the metro Birmingham area.

Shoppers and diners can look forward to a diverse lineup of tenants, including First Watch, Panera Bread, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Hollywood Feed, Chipotle, Cava, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Aspen Dental.

Economic Impact

This expansive 600,000-square-foot development represents a major milestone for the region. Beyond the new retail, restaurant, and hotel space, the project is expected to be a significant economic driver. Projections from the city indicate that District 31 will generate approximately $2.8 million in annual city sales taxes, alongside an additional $1.4 million in revenue dedicated to local schools.
