A routine traffic stop in Tallapoosa County escalated into a significant drug bust, resulting in the seizure of 11 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of two individuals, according to 205focus.com.
From a traffic stop to a search warrant
The chain of events began on Friday when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord traveling along Jefferson Street in Alexander City. According to Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force Sgt. Chance Hunt, the deputy quickly established probable cause to search the vehicle, where they discovered two and a half ounces of marijuana.
Following the initial discovery, the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force launched an investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant at an apartment located on Summer Street in Alexander City.
Evidence seized and charges filed
During the follow-up search, agents successfully recovered approximately 11 pounds of marijuana, a Glock pistol, and $670 in cash. As a result of the discovery, two suspects are now in custody:
- Ke Aldric Buckner, 23, faces charges of trafficking marijuana, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Taniya Davis, 22, is charged with trafficking marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
