Trump’s Great American State Fair performers drop out as lineup reveals country music, rock legends
The event runs from June 25 through July.
As the Great American State Fair prepares to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday, the event's entertainment lineup has become a focal point of discussion. The festival, which spans from June 25 through July, is set to transform the area between the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument into a World Fair-style showcase featuring exhibits, patriotic tributes, and innovation displays.
Lineup Shifts and Departures
While organizers planned a series of performances for every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night of the festival, the roster has faced recent turbulence. Rapper Young MC recently announced his withdrawal from the event, following a similar move by the funk and R&B group Morris Day and The Time. According to Variety, the artists cited concerns regarding the non-partisan claims of the organizers versus the "Trump-backed" nature of the festival.
In a social media statement, Young MC noted, "The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event. I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged."
Confirmed Performers
Despite the exits, the current schedule for the event includes a mix of country stars and rock legends. Per an official release, the performance schedule features:
- Martina McBride (June 25): Four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and Grammy-nominated country artist.
- C+C Music Factory (June 26): Grammy-winning dance group.
- Vanilla Ice (June 26): Multi-platinum rapper and pop culture icon.
- Milli Vanilli (June 26): Internationally recognized pop duo.
