Veteran officer named police chief in Midfield

Midfield has officially ushered in a new era for its law enforcement leadership. Mayor Terry Adams announced on Thursday that veteran officer Michael Jeffries has been appointed as the city’s new police chief, stepping into the role following the retirement of former Chief Jesse Bell earlier this year.

A Proven Track Record

Jeffries is no stranger to the department, having dedicated the last 14 years to the Midfield Police Department. Before ascending to the role of chief, he served as a lieutenant. His professional background also includes six years of service in the Army National Guard, a tenure that featured two deployments to Afghanistan.

Leadership Confidence

The city council showed strong support for the appointment, confirming the move with a unanimous vote. Following the decision, Mayor Adams expressed his optimism regarding the future of the department. "We feel good and we’re confident that, after several years of dedicated service, he will take the City of Midfield to new heights," Adams said.

Looking Ahead

For the newly appointed Chief Jeffries, the focus remains squarely on community engagement and operational growth. As reported by 205focus.com, Jeffries shared his commitment to the city following the announcement.

"It is an honor to serve as chief of police for the City of Midfield and its communities," Jeffries stated. "I look forward to working alongside our officers, city leadership, residents, and business owners to continue building community relationships, strengthening officer training and accountability, along with improving operational efficiency and public safety strategies."
