Wawa brings another new store to Alabama. And now it’s serving tacos.
2026 is a year of major expansion for the company.
Coastal Alabama’s newest Wawa store opens Wednesday, serving all the food and beverage treats the chain is known for – and tacos. The cult-favorite East Coast convenience store chain continues a major expansion across the central Gulf Coast after announcing ambitious expansion plans in 2022. A new store opening Wednesday in Loxley will be its seventh in Alabama. The new store is at 3100 S. Hickory St., formerly the site of the Burris Farm Market, which puts it on the Ala. 59 beach traffic corridor. Opening festivities will start at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 13. Planned activities include a T-shirt giveaway for the first 100 patrons, a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. and a “Hoagies for Heroes” sandwich-building competition. Additionally, hot coffee will be served free at the store through Sunday, May 17. The new store, like others throughout the chain, will serve a selection of Snack & Go tacos and related treats through Aug. 10. Soft tacos are available 24/7; fillings include seasoned beef & fire roasted corn, spicy cheesy chicken, and crispy cheesy chicken. Seasoned beef options include burritos, rice bowls and quesadillas available from 5 a.m. through 9 p.m. daily. “During our research, Wawa customers were clear: they wanted tacos,” said Mary-Rose Hannum, Chief Food & Beverage Officer at Wawa. “We listened and we’re thrilled to bring our customizable tacos and seasoned beef recipes to our menu for a limited time.” According to Wawa, this is the 28th of 100 new stores the chain plans to open in 2026. The new stores will be spread across 14 states “in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Midwest regions,” according to information provided by the company.
