Much-anticipated college football international game moved, new date TBD
Citing an extensive review, the ACC's college football game in Brazil this coming season will be moved.
The landscape of college football's international slate is shifting. While August 29 was originally set to feature a pair of games across the globe—one in Dublin and another in Brazil—the latter has been removed from its international venue.
Game Relocated to Charlottesville
The ACC officially announced Wednesday that the highly anticipated matchup between NC State and Virginia, dubbed “College Football Brazil,” will no longer take place in South America. Instead, the conference confirmed the contest has been moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. A definitive date for the rescheduled game has not yet been set.
According to a statement shared by NC State athletics and the ACC, the decision follows an extensive review involving international stakeholders and operational partners. The change comes after Athlete Advantage notified the conference and both universities that the event could not be executed as planned.
Looking Ahead
While the venue has changed, the ACC, NC State, and Virginia are actively collaborating with the NCAA and ESPN to keep the game on its original Week 0 slot: Saturday, August 29.
These two programs last squared off in Raleigh, North Carolina, last season, where NC State narrowly edged out Virginia in a 35-31 victory. 205focus.com will continue to monitor the situation as a new date for this ACC clash is confirmed.
