Pihakis Restaurant Group faces eviction lawsuit over shuttered Birmingham office
It's the fourth lawsuit filed in connection with the restaurant group.
The troubled Pihakis Restaurant Group is facing further legal pressure. A new eviction lawsuit, classified as an unlawful detainer, has been filed by 101 Parkside regarding the company's office space located at 101 12th St. S., Suite 300, in Birmingham.
According to the filing submitted Tuesday in Jefferson County District Court, the action follows an alleged breach of a commercial lease agreement. 101 Parkside claims that after serving the group with a lease termination notice, the tenant failed to surrender the premises. The offices at that address have remained shuttered for several weeks.
This latest legal challenge is the fourth such action targeting the restaurant group. The organization is already navigating three pending lawsuits totaling more than $1 million in unpaid bills, alongside over $12.6 million in liens filed by developer Michael Mouron across two counties.
Restaurant Transitions
The company, once a fixture of the Birmingham food scene, began a wave of closures on April 12, starting with the permanent shuttering of Tasty Town Greek Restaurant and Lounge.
While the broader organization faces collapse, four associated restaurants remain in operation under new ownership structures:
- Full Circle: The former Hero Doughnuts & Buns, founded in 2016 by Wil Drake, has reopened in Homewood.
- Salice: Formerly known as Luca Lagotto, the Homewood spot continues with founder and operating partner Chef Rita Bernhardt.
- Little Donkey: The Homewood establishment successfully transitioned to new ownership.
- Magnolia Point: This Southside destination remains open, continuing to serve Gulf-centric cuisine.
Additionally, pitmaster and chef Rodney Scott recently announced plans to reopen his restaurants following the initial closures in April.
