With ‘no talent’ acts gone, Trump announces new headliner for kick off of Great American State Fair
There will also be performances from country singer Lee Greenwood, opera singer Christopher Macchio, the U.S. Army Band, Armed Forces Choir, U.S. Marine Band and Joint Armed Forces Chorus.
President Donald Trump has announced he will headline The Great American State Fair, stepping into the spotlight following the withdrawal of several musical acts from the upcoming celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
A High-Stakes Kick-Off
Trump confirmed via Truth Social that he will take the stage during the festival's opening rally. The 16-day event is scheduled to run from June 25 through July 10 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Looking ahead to the event, Trump promised a massive show: “On Wednesday, June 24th, at 7 P.M., in magnificent Washington, D.C., now totally beautified, and one of the Safest Cities anywhere in the World, and in celebration of our Country’s 250 Year History, we will be bringing you, LIVE, the Greatest Rally, EVER! It will be special at every level — A Rally to end all Rallies!”
Shift in Entertainment
The President addressed the departing talent bluntly, stating that the performers described as having “no talent” were told to stay home. Originally, nine acts were slated to perform, but at least seven have pulled out of the event, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Morris Day and The Time, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, The Commodores, and Fabrice Morvan.
Many of the artists cited concerns that the event had shifted away from their expectations of a non-partisan celebration. Bret Michaels noted, “Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.”
Fair Details
The Great American State Fair is hosted by the White House in partnership with Freedom 250, a non-profit 501(c)3 established by executive order, with Trump serving as its CEO. According to the Freedom 250 website, the fair intends to provide daily themed programming focused on American history, innovation, faith, military service, education, culture, and the future of the nation.
