Auburn football has a top 10 recruiting class in 2027 after 4-star safety commitment
Auburn coach Alex Golesh gets the Tigers to its first top 10 recruiting class in his tenure after landing a 4-star safety commitment.
Auburn football is surging on the recruiting trail, officially securing its 16th commitment for the 2027 class with the addition of 4-star safety Chance Gilbert.
A Major Recruiting Win
Gilbert announced his pledge late Tuesday evening, opting for the Tigers over a relentless recruiting push from the University of Georgia. His decision serves as a significant victory for the program, as the elite hometown prospect chose to take his talents to Auburn.
With Gilbert officially in the fold, the Tigers have moved into the top 10 of the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. This milestone marks the first time during Alex Golesh’s tenure that the program has climbed into the top 10.
Meet the Newest Tiger
The 247Sports Composite lists Gilbert as the No. 56 overall prospect, the No. 4 safety in the country, and the No. 4 player out of Georgia for the 2027 cycle. The East Coweta High School standout is a dynamic two-sport athlete who also excels on the track.
His production on the field mirrors his elite ranking. During a standout 2024 sophomore campaign, Gilbert recorded 44 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, according to MaxPreps.
Gilbert’s commitment caps off a massive day for Auburn, as he joins 4-star offensive lineman Reed Ramsier as the second blue-chip recruit to join the class on Tuesday.
