Clay Travis leaving sports, culture site he founded, but will still appear on TV

Clay Travis, the polarizing voice behind the sports and culture site OutKick, is stepping away from the brand he founded in 2011. The news, first reported by the Hollywood Reporter, marks a significant shift for the platform.

A New Era for OutKick

Following his sale of the site to Fox Corporation five years ago, the 47-year-old Nashville native is moving on. Moving forward, OutKick will be folded into the Fox News Digital umbrella, functioning similarly to how The Athletic operates under The New York Times. Despite the exit, Travis expressed pride in what he built over the last 15 years, stating that the site achieved its goal of becoming an influential, authentic digital platform.

Staying in the Fox Family

Although he is departing OutKick, Travis remains a fixture within Fox News Media. He will continue his duties as a television contributor and will maintain his co-hosting role on the syndicated talk radio show alongside Buck Sexton. That program remains a staple on the airwaves, having taken over the radio slot previously held by the late Rush Limbaugh.

Legacy and Local Ties

Throughout his career, Travis has been known for his unapologetic conservative commentary on the intersection of sports and politics. While his rhetoric has frequently sparked controversy, his influence on the sports media landscape remains undeniable. Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, noted that Travis leaves the platform in a strong position for future growth under the Fox News Digital domain.

Longtime followers of Alabama sports media may recall Travis for his deep ties to the region. The former attorney and ardent Tennessee fan previously served as a regular guest on Birmingham sports talk radio and still occasionally pops up on the Birmingham-based Next Round Live internet show.
