His representative announced the news on Monday.
The world of animation and gaming is mourning the loss of legendary voice actor Tom Kane. Known for bringing iconic characters to life across some of the most celebrated franchises in history, Kane passed away on Monday at the age of 64.
A Legacy in Voice Acting
Kane’s representative, Zach McGinnis, confirmed to TMZ that the actor died at a hospital in Kansas City while surrounded by his family. According to reports, his passing was the result of complications stemming from a 2020 stroke.
For generations of fans, Kane’s voice was unmistakable. He famously voiced Yoda in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars feature film and the subsequent television series. Beyond the galaxy far, far away, he was a staple of animation as Professor Utonium and HIM in The Powerpuff Girls. His versatile vocal talents also left a significant mark on the Call of Duty video game franchise.
Remembering an Extraordinary Man
While his professional achievements were immense, those close to him remember a man defined by his devotion to his family. McGinnis shared with TMZ that Kane was a dedicated husband and father. Alongside his wife, he helped raise a family of nine children, including three biological children and six whom they welcomed through adoption and fostering.
Reflecting on the impact of his life and career, McGinnis told TMZ, “Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever.”
