Alabama firms among 14 competing for $499 million building contract orders, Pentagon says

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has tapped a group of 15 firms to vie for a massive series of building projects. According to a May 15 notice, these companies will compete for work orders totaling up to $499 million.

Alabama firms in the mix

Two Alabama-based businesses are among the select group chosen to support the planning, design, and construction efforts for the Mobile, Alabama, District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Division. Birmingham's Legacy-exp Federal JV LLC and Montgomery-based Sherlock Smith & Adams Inc. have earned a spot in this long-term agreement, which runs through May 14, 2031.

Additionally, Sherlock Smith & Adams Inc. is part of a joint venture included in the selection alongside Virginia Beach-based Clark Nexsen.

The path forward

While this selection marks a significant opportunity, it comes with no guaranteed awards. Instead, the 15 firms will face off for individual work orders as they become available. The competition for these spots was intense, with 46 total bids submitted via the internet.

As 205focus.com continues to track regional economic developments, we note that specific work locations and exact funding for these projects will be determined on a case-by-case basis as each order is issued.
