Alabama sheriff offers reward after small town festival disrupted by gunfire

A celebration meant to foster community in a small Clarke County town took a violent turn this past weekend. Coffeeville Day, an event typically dedicated to unity, was cut short after a series of reckless incidents disrupted the festivities.

Chaos in Coffeeville

According to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, the event was thrown into disarray on Saturday when multiple individuals opened fire, allegedly utilizing an automatic weapon. During the chaos, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.

In a statement released via the department's Facebook page, the sheriff’s office expressed relief that no one sustained injuries from the gunfire, labeling the behavior of those involved as both careless and reckless.

Seeking Justice

205focus.com has learned that authorities are now offering financial incentives to help identify those responsible for the violence. There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved in the shooting.

Furthermore, a separate $1,000 reward is being offered for details regarding the driver of a silver or gray Kia that struck a pedestrian during the event. Officials emphasized their dedication to maintaining order in the town of roughly 250 residents.

"We are committed to the safety of our community and appreciate the support of the public in order to hold all accountable who jeopardize that safety," the sheriff’s office stated.
