Building the Class of 2027
The event hosted four major pledges from the 2027 class: four-star wide receiver Brylan Oduor, three-star offensive lineman Jaylon Moore, three-star quarterback Gary Chatman Jr., and four-star tight end George Lamons Jr. For Lamons, the weekend was about more than just enjoying the festivities; it was an active mission to help recruit new talent to the Plains.
"I came out today just trying to build new relationships," Lamons noted. "Trying to bring new people and help build this class." His efforts are already showing results, as three-star linebacker Kareem Palmer committed to the Tigers on Sunday, marking a quick win for the recruiting momentum stemming from the event.
A Home Away From Home
Lamons, who is currently ranked as the No. 10 tight end nationally and the No. 27 overall player in Georgia by the 247Sports composite, has been locked in with the Tigers since his commitment following the A-Day spring game. The four-star prospect, sitting at No. 242 in the national rankings, shared that head coach Alex Golesh’s immediate, enthusiastic reaction to his decision was a major highlight.
"It was everything to me," Lamons said. "It made me feel like I was right at home and made the right decision."
Strengthening Ties
Beyond the head coach, the weekend allowed Lamons to deepen his bond with tight end coach Larry Scott. Developing that personal connection remains a priority as he looks toward his future in orange and blue. "It’s better because I got to know coach Scott more as a human than as my future coach," Lamons said. "It feels good to build that relationship because I know I’m going to get the most out of him and he’s going to get the most out of me."
With seven players now on board, Auburn’s 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 28 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.
