‘So f------ bizarre’: Critics laugh off Trump’s ‘outlandish’ Iran claim

President Donald Trump is facing a wave of mockery following a claim that Iran’s leadership personally reached out to confide that they are winning the public relations war against the United States.

Trump's Fox & Friends Appearance

Speaking over the phone during a Thursday morning segment on “Fox & Friends,” Trump suggested that Iranian officials are baffled by their own positive media coverage. “Behind the scenes I will tell you -- they won’t even dispute it -- Iran is very good at publicity but they’re not good at fighting,” the president stated. He claimed that the Iranian leadership reached out to him, saying, “It’s amazing how well we’re doing in the papers.”

Critics and Skeptics Weigh In

The assertion was met with immediate pushback and ridicule from political commentators and analysts. CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter summarized the exchange as a claim that Iranian leaders were bragging to the president about their press clippings.

On social media, critics were quick to label the story as entirely fabricated. The account known as scary lawyer guy noted that among the many claims made by Trump over the last 11 years, this stood out as the most outlandish instance of something that never actually happened.

Former National Security Council official Tommy Vietor took a satirical approach, tweeting a hypothetical conversation where the Supreme Leader allegedly boasted about dominating the headlines in publications like The Village Voice and Spy Magazine.

Former Republican congressman Justin Amash also dismissed the narrative, tweeting that the president frequently presents imaginary conversations as reality. Similarly, the Spiro’s Ghost account labeled the entire event as “completely delusional” and “so f------ bizarre.”
